Shimadzu UK - NEW Sharing Best Practice Workshop - Tensile and Compression testing of materials

Shimadzu UK in collaboration with Sheffield University and their new Diamond Engineering Facility are pleased to announced the first dates for their New Shimadzu University for the Materials Testing and Testing Machines product range.
Workshop dates - 11th and 18th November 2015 - To avoid disappointment book your free place now.

Workshop Aim

This sharing best practice course teaches you about the tensile and compression testing of materials. By the end of the day participants will be able to do the following:

  • Explain how and why tensile tests are performed.
  • Understand the types of specimens that can be tested – shapes and different types of materials.
  • Understand the importance of International Test Standards.
  • Be able to set up a tensile and compression method for an International Test Standard.
  • Analyze tensile and compression test data to determine elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation from a stress-strain curve.

Is this workshop right for you? - target audience

This course is targeted towards

  • Any engineers involved in materials testing - design, manufacturing, quality and test engineers.
  • Academic staff, technical staff and research students.
  • Sales people and purchasing agents with technical backgrounds involved in the purchase of testing equipment
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about the best practices of tensile and compression testing - theory and hands on.
