The complete choice of cable entry options explained, including when is the right time for a quick entry. When specifying an enclosure for electrical applications one of the key considerations has to be cable entry. The cable entry points of an enclosure can help to determine the overall level of ingress protection (IP) provided against the external environment as well as cable retention force and crucially, installation speed, all-the-while balancing utility with cost.

The concept of concurrent engineering is simple, and the benefits are clear. By synchronising aspects of product design and development, you can speed up the design and manufacturing cycle and reduce time-to-market. Excellence in concurrent engineering depends on many factors -- choosing the right technologies, careful planning, a commitment to capturing design intent at the start of any new project, and a product development vision that extends well past the manufacturing and delivery of the product.

Honda's U3-X is designed to provide the rider with freedom of movement in any direction forward, backward, sideways and diagonally by leaning slightly in the desired direction. The compact one-wheeled device also features a foldable seat and retractable footrests. A lithium-ion battery pack provides power for up to one hour of use and can be recharged by plugging in to a conventional household or office 120V power outlet.
Weighing roughly 22 pounds, U3-X uses a proprietary balance control system which derives from Honda's research into human walking dynamics for the development of the ASIMO bi-pedal humanoid robot.

Form-in-place gaskets (FIP) have been part of the mainstream enclosure industry for many years but the cost and physical size of robotic application has been a major constraint for SMEs – until now.
Intertronics has focused on bench-top robotics and matched compliant gasket materials to provide low cost equipment to suit boxes or housings from 200 x 150mm, junction boxes, terminal boxes, control boxes, electronic housings or small mechanical gearboxes. The company says it has dramatically cut entry cost on the smallest – with larger equipment running right up to 800 x 600mm machines.
