Flightfloor Eco sets standards in the air

Benecke-Kaliko, ContiTech's surface specialist, has unveiled its latest product for the aviation market: Flightfloor Eco. The material combines high resistance capability and minimal weight and is claimed to have the potential to revolutionise the market for floor covering materials in the industry and to set new standards.

Flightfloor Eco is said to save 700g/m2 compared with standard products, thereby lowering fuel consumption as well as CO2 emissions. The material is also halogen-free, and meets the aviation industry's strict requirements regarding reaction to fire, smoke gas density, and smoke gas toxicity.

In airplanes, the non-textile floor covering material is mainly used in highly frequented areas subjected to particularly high loads such as the entrance area, galley, and restroom. Thanks to its high wear resistance, the material is claimed to withstand continuous high loads, and is also skid resistant.
