Superior plastics ring a bell at Engineering Materials Live event

Engineering Materials Live exhibitor 4PLAS is using the event to highlight a substantial range of advanced engineering plastics – including those used extensively in the manufacture of alarm system products.

Widely specified for use in intruder, fire, smoke, carbon monoxide and gas alarms, some of the company’s latest grades of materials include those specially developed for flame retardancy. Other materials which can be discussed at the event have been formulated for specific purposes, for example advanced protection against UV in outdoor environments.

Included in a much bigger range of materials for visitors to examine and discuss at Engineering Materials Live are polycarbonates for applications requiring a degree of flexibility, as well as a variety of ABS options for projects which may require higher impact resistance.

Other materials on the 4PLAS stand which could form discussions include PBT glass fibre reinforced plastics (VO UL listed), often used for electrical connectors, halogen-free PC/ABS alloys (FR VO) as specified for use in smoke detector casings, as well as a range of PC/PET products which are often preferred by designers for use in hand-held detectors.

Entry to the Engineering Materials Live event is free of charge by pre-registration. The event takes place at the acclaimed British Motor Museum on 12th March next year: the venue is located adjacent to the Aston Martin and JLR plants south of Warwick and just 1 minute from the M40. There is abundant free parking, and for visitors arriving before 1030, a free bacon roll and brew too. Tea and coffee is provided free of charge all day at the event, and pre-registered exhibition visitors can also visit the superb Museum, with almost 300 fascinating cars on show, free of charge too (standard adult entry fee otherwise is £14.50).
