Super Thin Ceramic Coatings
A really great video looking at the next generation of engineering coatings being developed by Nasa. Enjoy, JC.
New technology being developed at NASA's Glenn Research Center creates super thin ceramic coatings on engine components. The Plasma Spray -- Physical Vapor Deposition (PS-PVD) rig uses a powerful plasma flame to vaporize ceramic powder, which condenses onto the component and forms a uniform ceramic coating. Bryan Harder, the lead for the PS-PVD, demonstrates the innovative technology.
