"Supply Chain Innovation towards a Circular Economy" Partnering event

21st October 2013, The Midland Hotel, Peter Street, Manchester, UK

A new Technology Strategy Board collaborative R&D funding competition will be launched late September entitled 'Supply Chain Innovation towards a Circular Economy'. To support companies interested in submitting proposals the Materials Security Special Interest Group (administered by Chemistry Innovation, Environmental Sustainability and Materials KTNs) are running this free networking event.

A major strategy for achieving more sustainable use of resources is to "close the loop" and transition to a circular economy. This is where materials are used over multiple product lifetimes while retaining the quality and economic value of the material. Moving to a more circular economy offers companies substantial opportunities for cost reduction, mitigation of supply risks and value generation through brand differentiation.

This event will feature:
- A range of illustrious speakers introducing the context of the competition, including Dr. Mike Pitts of Technology Strategy Board
- Successful applicants from previous Technology Strategy Board competitions
- An opportunity to network with a range of other businesses who are interested in being involved in the competition for instance as partners
- Guidance on making a strong application and further free support available through the Knowledge Transfer Networks
- An introduction to the Materials Security Special Interest Group
