More performance, lower weight
A special hybrid reinforcement system of carbon and glass fibres was developed for this new generation of materials, which allow stiffness values of significantly higher than 35'000 MPa to be achieved.
Grivory XL products are used when components cannot be engineered with a sufficient thickness or number of strengthening ribs and consequently, show too high deformation under load. The high stiffness of Grivory XL products allows thin-walled components to be made with correspondingly short cycle times. Based on the high E-modulus values, products, in particular those with long-fibre reinforcement, show reduced creep deformation even under high loads. In this way, the new EMS high-performance polymers exhibit significantly lower creep deformation than zinc die-cast alloys. The specific strength and stiffness values of zinc die-cast alloys are also exceeded by far. All these properties are provided by materials which have a very low density which means that the improved stiffness values do not result in an increased mass for the components.
Tailor-made to suit requirements
Grivory XL products encompass a wide range of fully optimizable properties which can be adapted to suit the requirement catalogue in question. In combination with oriented endless fibres EMS Tape Technology (ETT), these new materials show spring-line linear-elastic behaviour without plastic deformation up to nearly 300 MPa.
